What is it prescribed for?
- Bacterial infections
Doxt-SL Capsule is used to treat bacterial infections such as:

1. Cholera:- It is a bacterial infection that causes severe diarrhoea and dehydration.

2. Pneumonia:- It is an infection of your lungs caused by bacteria. The symptoms include difficulty in breathing, chest tightness, wet cough, fever, etc.

3. Urinary tract infection:- It is an infection in any part of your urinary system (kidneys, ureter, urethra, urinary bladder) caused by bacteria. The symptoms include a burning sensation while urinating, increased frequency of urination, dark-coloured urine, etc.

4. Rickettsial diseases:- It is a group of infections caused by a bacteria, rickettsia. The symptoms include fever, chills, severe headache, muscle pain, etc.

5. Anthrax:- It is a serious bacterial infection caused by Bacillus anthracis. It may affect your skin, lungs, and intestine.

6. Sexually transmitted diseases:- It is a group of infections caused by bacteria that spreads through sexual contact.

7. Plague:- It is a serious bacterial infection caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis. It is spread through the bite of infected fleas (wingless insects), through direct contact with an infected person, or by inhalation. In severe form, it may lead to septicaemic plague (blood infection that spreads throughout the body) and/or pneumonic plague (lung infection).

8. Eye infections:- Trachoma is a bacterial infection that affects your eyes and may lead to blindness. Conjunctivitis is the infection or swelling of the conjunctiva, the white part of the eye, and the inner eyelids.
General Instructions
Take Doxt-SL Capsule as prescribed by your doctor. Do not break, chew, or crush the capsule/ tablet in your mouth. Take this medicine with a sufficient amount of water to avoid oesophagal ulcers. Avoid taking this medicine immediately before going to bed. Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking this medicine as it can irritate your stomach. Do not give your medicine to other people even if their condition appears to be the same as yours. Complete the entire course of the treatment for better results and to prevent infection to recur. Inform your doctor if you have any other health conditions before taking this medicine. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding before using Doxt-SL Capsule. Keep the medicine away from the reach of children and pets. Ensure that unused medicine is disposed of properly.
When not to use?
Allergy
Avoid taking Doxt-SL Capsule if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.
Warnings
Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
Doxt-SL Capsule is not recommended for use in pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Hence, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Breast-feeding
Doxt-SL Capsule is not recommended for use in breastfeeding as it may cause permanent teeth discolouration of your baby. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings
Photosensitivity
Doxt-SL Capsule should be used with caution as it may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. It may cause itching, redness, skin rash, sunburn, etc. Therefore, avoid direct exposure to sunlight during the treatment with this medicine.
Antibiotic resistance
The entire course of treatment with Doxt-SL Capsule should be completed, even if the condition gets better after taking a few doses, due to the chances of antibiotic resistance (a condition where bacteria evolve mechanisms that protect them from the effects of antibiotics).
Use in children
Doxt-SL Capsule may cause permanent teeth discolouration in children. Hence, it is not recommended for use in children less than eight years of age except in life-threatening conditions.
Serious skin reactions
Doxt-SL Capsule should be used with caution as it may cause serious skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome (a skin condition in which painful rash occur followed by the formation of blisters), exfoliative dermatitis (a skin condition in which the top layer of the skin is shredded), etc.
Systemic lupus erythematosus
Systemic lupus erythematosus is a condition in which your body’s immune system attacks its own tissues. It can affect the skin, kidneys, brain, joints, and other organs. Lupus erythematosus may worsen during the treatment with Doxt-SL Capsule. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as tiredness, painful joints, rashes, or lesions on the skin.
Intracranial pressure
Doxt-SL Capsule should be used with caution as it may increase the intracranial pressure (pressure inside your skull). This may lead to loss of vision. Consult your doctor immediately if you observe a blurring of vision.
Oesophageal ulcerations
The oesophagus is the part of the alimentary canal that connects the throat to the stomach. Doxt-SL Capsule may cause irritation and ulcers in your oesophagus. Hence, avoid taking this medicine immediately before going to bed. Also, take this medicine with a sufficient amount of water to prevent irritation.
Driving vehicles
Doxt-SL Capsule may cause blurred vision or visual disturbances. Hence, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking this medicine.
Missed Dose
Do not skip any dose of Doxt-SL Capsule. If you forget to take a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to compensate for the missed one.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of an overdose with Doxt-SL Capsule.
